Airline crew travel tips website

This project showcases my early foray into UX design through my own startup venture focused on creating a website catering to airline crew members. The objective was to provide a platform for airline professionals to exchange valuable travel tips and insights. My idea was ahead of its time, as it aimed to leverage user-generated content and facilitate knowledge-sharing among airline professionals pre-smartphone era. The absence of mobile applications and the reliance on traditional web-based platforms posed distinctive hurdles. Despite these challenges, this venture provided valuable insights and learning opportunities that inspired my career as a designer.

While this project did not achieve its intended success as a startup, it served as a valuable learning experience that allowed me to acquire essential skills and knowledge in web development. Throughout the process, I independently delved into HTML, CSS, PHP, and WordPress development, honing my abilities to create functional and visually appealing websites.

As the sole designer and developer, I assumed responsibility for conceptualizing the website's user experience and translating it into a user interface design. My role included:

  1. Conducting extensive research to understand the unique needs and pain points of airline crew members regarding travel tips and information sharing.

  2. Creating wireframes and prototypes to outline the website's structure, information hierarchy, and interaction flows.

  3. Designing a visually cohesive and intuitive user interface that catered to the target audience's preferences and requirements.

  4. Implementing the website using a combination of HTML, CSS, PHP, and WordPress, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility across various devices and browsers.

Takeaways

Although this startup project did not achieve its intended goals, it served as a valuable stepping stone in my career, I went on to study at university and make a career. It taught me the importance of user research, prototyping, and implementing effective user interfaces. This experience also emphasised the value of continuous learning and self-improvement, as I dedicated myself to acquiring and expanding my technical skills to bring the project to life.

Overall, this project showcases my ability to independently tackle complex design and development challenges while demonstrating my determination to learn and adapt in the face of setbacks.
